About the Conference:

Cultures of Care is a conference dedicated to exploring how schools can foster safe, inclusive, and compassionate communities where wellbeing, belonging, and human connection are at the heart of learning. Bringing together internationally recognised experts in safeguarding, restorative practice, social and emotional learning, gender equity, and student wellbeing, the conference offers educators practical strategies to strengthen cultures of care across their schools.

Across the two-day conference, participants will select two specialist learning streams, each facilitated by a leading expert in the field. This structure provides the opportunity for sustained engagement with key themes, allowing participants to move beyond introductory discussions and develop a deeper understanding of both the theory and practice that underpin meaningful school culture change.

The streams address some of the most pressing challenges facing young people today, from online influences, misogyny and sexual harassment to the impact of assessment culture on student self-worth. Participants can explore approaches to Comprehensive Sexuality Education that are age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and grounded in child protection, while also considering how students’ increasingly interconnected online and offline lives shape identity, relationships, and risk.

Other streams examine innovative frameworks for promoting wellbeing and belonging. Participants will explore restorative practices informed by neuroscience and trauma-aware approaches, learn how social and emotional learning can become embedded across teaching, learning, and school systems, and gain practical tools for predicting and addressing common challenges.

At its core, Cultures of Care challenges educators to rethink traditional assumptions about success, safety, and belonging. Through expert-led learning, collaboration, and reflection, participants will leave with practical strategies, fresh perspectives, and renewed confidence to create school environments where every young person can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
