The Global Issues Network (GIN), founded in 2003 at ISL by a group of concerned educators from a handful of international schools in Europe has grown into a worldwide network.

Inspired by the work of Jean-François Rischard, former World Bank Vice-President for Europe, and his book, High Noon: Twenty Global Problems, Twenty Years to Solve Them, the GIN's mission is to help students realise they can make a difference by empowering them to develop solutions for contemporary global issues, through collaboration with their peers.

Global citizens seek to understand the world at large and how this connects to and impacts their local context. Students are empowered to move from theory to action. They are encouraged to create opportunities for themselves to begin developing their own GIN Projects: student-led and designed (with educator support) project-based learning that addresses local-global system issues and implements local-global systems solutions in partnership with local community leaders, members, and the global network.

The members of the ISL GIN team organise an annual global conference. At the GIN Conference, participants from diverse schools showcase and share their successes, strategies, methodologies, and collaborate to problem-solve their challenges.
