As part of their social studies unit on sustainability and the tourism industry, Grade 8 students had the opportunity to learn how tourism, when properly applied, can greatly benefit a community.
Through a Skype meeting with Matt and Gabi Holder from Atmosphere Resorts in the Philippines, students got a first hand look at how a truly successful dive resort destination invests significantly in the local community through education, social projects and environmental protectionism.
Our students asked well-researched and meaningful questions, and in addition to the practical lessons, gained an understanding of how big dreams, partnered with hard work and dedication can be realised.
