Grade 4 Show Brings Zebras and Giraffes Together
Posted 18/06/2015 17:18

Wednesday June 17th was a day for Grade 4 students to shine under the spotlight. They performed an outstanding show for their peers in the morning and their parents later in the evening.

With colourful costumes and confident voices, they told and sang a story about a friendship under African skies entitled, “Tuishi Pamoja” by Sandra Enggelhardt and Martin Shulte.

The story begins with an antagonistic relationship that exists between a herd of giraffe and a herd of zebra on the African plane. The giraffes look down on the zebras and the zebras look down on the giraffes. A young male giraffe named Raffi and a young female zebra named Zea eventually form a friendship and are spared from the clutches of a lion - illustrating that there is safety in numbers.

The play ends with a happy chorus entitled “Friends at Last,” that sums up the need for others in our lives, “Some of us have stripes, and some of us have spots. But it doesn’t matter what we’ve got! Come along, let’s celebrate in style. Friendship makes it all worthwhile.”

Congratulations to the Grade 4 students, the Grade 4 team, the Lower School Music Department, the many parent volunteers, and the ISL maintenance team for helping our students shine.
