Exciting Drama Options Available for US Students
Posted 28/01/2015 11:49

Dear students and parents,

The Theatre Department would like to draw your attention to three exciting drama options currently available, or coming soon, to the Middle School: one after-school club and two plays.

DramaWorks (Grades 6-8)

After school on Monday (3.30 to 4.30pm), Ms Kafka-Markey is running a theatre club called DramaWorks for Grades 6-8 students. The activities involve games, improvisation, and text performance. Students are eligible to take LAMDA exams during the course and to receive a certificate of achievement. Interested participants should contact Ms Kafka-Markey for more details.

Asher's Magic Box (Grades 6-8)

During Cascade lessons on B and F Days in Trimester 3, students will have the opportunity to be in a play called "Asher's Magic Book", about a group of friends who find a magic book in a mysterious chest in the attic of a house. The book is then stolen and they embark on a series of adventures to recover it. Written by two 8th Grade students, this action-packed, hilarious comedy has around 15 roles. Sign up at the next Cascade enrolment. Ms Kafka-Markey will direct this play. Performances in June. Interested participants should contact Ms Kafka-Markey for more details.

The Tiger's Bones (Grades 7 & 8 only)

Mr Macky is looking for actors to be in another short comedy play called "The Tiger's Bones" to be performed in late May/early June. The story involves a group of fanatical scientists who travel the globe trying to bring "progress" to disadvantaged areas, but who end up making things much worse. A final confrontation with a tiger on the top of a mountain is a fitting climax. There are 10 roles. Auditions will be held on the 3rd and 5th of February after school in US01. Rehearsal days to be determined (probably Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.30 to 4.30). Interested participants should contact Mr Macky for more details and a copy of the script.

We hope that one or more of these drama options will fit you and look forward to your involvement.
