Three ISL Students Awarded Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs

On Thursday, 5 May, four outstanding young women were awarded the Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) award in a ceremony at the Athénée de Luxembourg. Three ISL students – Naz Erdogan, Maya Fish (participating via Zoom), Laurine Koenig – as well as Ashley Monteiro from the Athénée de Luxembourg, were celebrated in a ceremony hosted by former YWPA winner (2012) Shabnam Ahani-Kamangar.

The YWPA prize recognizes exceptional young women between the ages of 16 and 19 who are engaged in social or political causes and have shown personal initiative, sense of responsibility and altruism. A jury comprised of a wide range of professional women in Luxembourg evaluates the candidates based on volunteer experience in their school or association, leadership potential, as well as engagement in advancing the status of women at a local or international level.

Upper School Principal Iain Fish stated, ‘Each of you is not only an ambassador for your respective causes but also a role model to others. I have no doubt that the work you are doing is an inspiration to the students you collaborate with and lead.’
