As part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness on the causes and consequences of climate change, a group of students has been collaborating with Médecins Sans Frontières for the last couple of weeks on the missing map project.
This has culminated with the organisation of a first mapathon for Grade 8 students. Carole Nunez and Laurence MOUREH-LEDIG from MSF spent an hour guiding students in their mapping efforts with the help of Amelia from Grade 11.
Students were assigned project number 11986 in Chad and logged into their HOT Tasking Manager accounts to contribute to the project by mapping buildings. Our work in this project prevents or helps mitigate the seasonal peaks of malnutrition and malaria among children, including across the Sahel region in Adre, and on the border with Sudan, which is an area marked by violence and displacement. The collaboration with MSF will be sustained with a series of ensuing mapathons.
