ISL was graced with the presence of film-maker May Taherzadeh on 17th March, made possible by Anne Cuvillier of the Unity Foundation.
Following the screening of her short film Mercy’s Blessing as part of their cross-curricular unit on cultures in conflict within the Changemakers programme curriculum, Grade 6 students were given the opportunity to meet and ask May questions about her film, the country of Malawi and the issues portrayed in the film such as child marriage, girl education and social justice.
Grade 6 never ran out of questions as their warm and dynamic guest was happy to open their eyes to different realities and remind them of their responsibilities as young changemakers. It was not May’s first time at ISL as she had previously attended a discussion on her film. More recently, May was a plenary speaker at last year’s virtual GIN conference hosted by ISL.
