Celebrating 60 Years of Outstanding Education

Celebrating 60 Years of Outstanding Education

The International School of Luxembourg marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 60th anniversary with a vibrant cocktail event, bringing together a diverse audience, including parents, former and current staff, alumni, as well as distinguished guests, and students.

The evening was highlighted by the presence of the Minister of Education, Claude Meisch, who delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the significance of education and acknowledging the remarkable achievements of the International School of Luxembourg over the past six decades.

The festivities continued with a celebration video capturing key moments and milestones of 60 years. Setting the tone for the evening, our Director, Dr. David J. Condon, shared opening remarks, followed by a touching video message from former Director Nicki Crush.

History teacher James Penn took the stage next, delivering a delightful blend of anecdotes, historical insights, and even a nod to beloved canteen food. Penn's speech took the guests on a trip down the memory lane, allowing them to appreciate the school's journey. Board Chair Brian Blanchard reflected on ISL's success and its legacy, and left the stage to students Zi shu Zhuang and Yuka-Ito Mackeown who showcased their musical talents leaving the audience awestruck with their performances. Their contribution together with our host Liam and Student Ambassadors Raphaëla, Alexander, Helen, Jessica, Krisztian, and Gloria who worked tirelessly to make this event special, was a demonstration of ISL’s spirit.

The night concluded with our former Head of Community Relations, Nancy Lhoest-Squicciarini’s closing toast.

The 60th-anniversary cocktail at ISL was more than a mere event; it was a celebration of the past, a recognition of the present, and a glimpse into the promising future that the school continues to build. As we thank everyone who contributed to making this event possible, including our cherished guests who joined us in celebrating sixty years of outstanding education, we look forward to the ongoing journey of excellence that lies ahead for the International School of Luxembourg.
