Each year at the conclusion of their gruelling IGCSE exams, the ISL Grade 10 students are put through the paces in preparation for the rigours of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme they will enter for their final two years at ISL.
This year the preparatory work began during the weeks of May 26 – June 8 as students continued to attend their regular subject timetable and received an introduction to IB skills and concepts within the scope of the six IB subject groups.
On Tuesday, June 9th, students participated in an all-day Theory of Knowledge (ToK) Field Trip to Völklinger Hütte World Heritage site and Saarbrucken. The day after, this was followed on with a morning of ToK workshops conducted by ISL ToK Faculty.
On Thursday, June 11th, the day was devoted to Futurwise thinking. On this day students experienced speakers from the careers of Business, Marketing, Finance, Political Science, International Relations, Law, Healthcare, Engineering, and Architecture. They also underwent some refresher first aid training and preparations for their outdoor education camp.
On June 13th the entire class departed in separate groups to Lou Valagran, France, and La Fosca, Spain, with a group also taking part in a Merite Jeunesse Silver and Gold Award Walk to Picos L’Europa, in Spain. The students will return on June 20th and 21 for the award walk participants.
