From the Board of Governors
From the Board of Governors

Dear members of the ISL Community,

The summer holidays are nearly here and the holiday weather seems to have arrived early. I wish you and all your families a great summer break and safe and happy travels!

In the weeks leading up to the end of the School Year, a number of events occur in the calendar of the ISL Association.

On 6 June, the regular general meeting of the Association took place and with it the election and re-election of Board members. You can find details of the meeting, including the excellent presentations, on the Community Portal under Community resources and information, Board of Governors, General Meetings.

This June there were in the end 4 parent-nominated candidates for 4 places and we extend a warm welcome to Sonja Malkki and Jean-Philippe Leroy as new parent-nominated Board members, along with Gert Rautenberg and Paul Heinz who were re-elected. We thank Ian Murdoch for his excellent contribution over the last two years. But we understand the business and personal reasons for which he decided not to stand for re-election.

Among Community Board members, Jhon Mortensen was re-elected and we welcome Sarah Khabirpour and Kelly Wilkie as new Community members.

It is great to be back to 14 Board members of a possible 15 and all Board members look forward to a more gender-balanced Board and to working with our new colleagues.

One of our long term projects that is now reaching completion is the revision of the School articles, about which I spoke to the RGM in June 2016. Unfortunately my own elevation to Chairman and other changes in the Board slowed this down, but work is now completed in consultation with our lawyers and members of the Community now have the opportunity to review the changes proposed before we submit them to the Ministry of Justice next month and hopefully to you to vote on them at the AGM in November. Please follow this link to a summary of the changes proposed

With best wishes for the summer holidays,
Robert Deed
