ISL never stands still and there have been many exciting events here at ISL in recent weeks. We were proud to host the Diversity Charter Ceremony in March and last week at the Diversity Awards Ceremony, ISL received a special mention for its encouragement of critical thinking, curiosity, risk taking, creativity, collaboration and reflection which begin with its youngest students from the moment they start school. The importance of support for diversity was clear at the Cook for Syria evening which took place at ISL last Saturday evening when 270 people sat down to dinner together, sampled and greatly enjoyed wonderful Syrian cuisine prepared by local and Syrian chefs and met many newcomers to Luxembourg, accompanied by music and dancing throughout the evening. We were particularly appreciative of all the ISL volunteers who assisted with the event and made it so worthwhile for the community.
I am delighted to welcome Mr. Sandro Pace Bonello who has been appointed as Head of Operations at ISL. Sandro took up his position this week and will oversee the operational side of the school. He is the former General Manager of the Luxembourg office of Anglo-American and brings a wealth of operations experience to ISL.
There are many concerts, sporting fixtures, and plays in the next few weeks as the school year comes to a close with moving up ceremonies across the school and graduation on June 10 at the Grand Théâtre. I hope you will be able to join us on some of these occasions to celebrate the numerous student achievements that we have seen throughout the year.
