Meet Tamas Harakaly

Tamas, from the class of 2014, is a talented engineer with a deep passion for his field. Recently, he had the opportunity to serve as one of the judges at the F1 Luxembourg Finals, where he helped assess up-and-coming talent in motorsport engineering. Let's get to know him better and hear more about his journey.

Where are you living now?

Luxembourg.

What did you do after you left ISL?

I went straight to university.

What did you study at University?

I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath.

What are you doing now?

I am currently working as a tire engineer at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company at the Innovation Center in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg.

Do you think that your time at ISL helped you pursue this? If yes, how?

ISL gave me the opportunity to study subjects I was most interested in and delivered the content at a high level which helped me get into a good university and pursue my goal of becoming an engineer.

What advantages has studying at ISL given you?

ISL gave me the foundations to become an efficient learner.

What advice would you give students to help them make the most of their time at ISL?

Do everything that interests you including extracurricular activities, as they help you build a balanced lifestyle and get you through classes that you would otherwise not be interested in.

Were you engaged in any ISL clubs/activities? What did you enjoy about them and what benefit do you think they have for students?

I was engaged in many different activities including basketball, football, band, adventure racing which all gave me additional opportunities to engage with my peers and build friendships outside of the classroom.

Please describe some of the things that ISL does above and beyond teaching and learning: How did your time at ISL help shape you as a person?

My time at ISL helped me learn how to interact with anyone and develop the ability to communicate with and understand people from different backgrounds.

What do you think is unique about ISL?

The abundance of activities during and outside of school hours.

If you could thank a teacher or staff member, who would it be?

There are many teachers I would like to thank for supporting me through my studies at ISL, but I would like to highlight Dr. Uren for being a fantastic physics teacher whose engaging method of teaching really helped me grasp complex topics quickly.
