Learn more about Kristi Ried-Barton, Alumni (attended school from 1964 to 1967)
My name is Kristi Ried-Barton. I was among the first wave of American families with DuPont and attended the school from 1964 to 1967. My father, Charles Ried was one of the DuPont research engineers who brought their families to live while DuPont was opening the new plant in Luxembourg. After leaving Luxembourg, DuPont moved us to Buffalo, New York where I attended middle school and later moved to Circleville, Ohio where I attended high school. I graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio with a major in Journalism and English. I used my knowledge and skills to write poetry which was published in A Vision, A Verse by Poetry Press Publications, and had newspapers publish my articles on plants and horticulture on a weekly basis.
Since 1991, I have lived in Greenville, South Carolina. I have continued to pursue and broaden my education into other fields of study to include being a Life Coach, Certified Natural Health Practitioner, Nutritionist, Reiki Master and Yoga Therapist. I am founder and director of It's Yoga! Studio in Greenville, SC with 9 therapy instructors and 17 classes weekly, as well as offering personal sessions, workshops and annual retreats. www.itsyogastudio.com
At ISL I was active in the class plays and events, allowing my creativity and voice to become stronger as well as encouraging strength in my self-esteem and self-actualization. With the international instructors I was immersed in different cultures and languages which assisted my career in writing and marketing and Director for It’s Yoga! Studio. The education I received has made me very receptive to points of view, work ethics and the value of community.
My advice to students is to be committed to yourself, your hopes and dreams. Be diligent in your studies of interest, ask questions using critical thinking and be globally minded to achieve your future vocation. These are the things that open opportunities for furthering your education and career.
ISL goes above and beyond the classroom with activities and community experiences to enable a smooth transition into our global society. As a student use your time wisely to attend and participate in those things of interest as they may produce a line of work that suite your talents.
ISL is a world recognized education for life-long learning.
