Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Today's world has been transformed by information technologies. Learning to use technology is only one facet of a student's education. More importantly, information literacy - the ability to use the information that new technologies make available, is a critical learning experience. Students must acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to access, evaluate, use and communicate information efficiently and effectively.
Our Vision
Students will learn through the appropriate use of technology and be prepared for the diverse technological challenges of a global future. With this in mind, it is the vision of the school that:
- Technology will be appropriately integrated within every subject area, enhancing the breadth and depth of students' learning experiences.
- Learning will become more interdisciplinary as technology facilitates links among the traditional areas of knowledge.
- Students will be better prepared for the technology-related demands found in higher education and in the workplace.
Furthermore, with the aid of technology, the school envisions that:
- Teacher-centred activities will become less important as students develop greater independence as learners. Students will find themselves increasingly mobile as they transfer their work electronically between home and school. The teacher will become a facilitator of learning.
- Students will progress more effectively according to their individual learning styles and their intellectual strengths.
- Students will work more often in mixed age groups according to their progress. Students will be able to assist one another.
- There will be a greater emphasis upon collaboration among both teachers and students. Furthermore, the school will develop collaborative programmes with schools and universities, and with the local and international communities.
Our technology infrastructure supports our vision.
