ISL Scholarships for 2010-2013

For the eleventh consecutive year, two full academic scholarships are being made available to qualifying students from the greater Luxembourg community, in recognition of the Grand Duchy’s generosity to the school. The scholarships are open to students aged 15 and over who are not already enrolled at ISL and will cover the final three years of high school (grades 10-12).

Prospective applicants should plan to attend the information session being held in the Upper School Library on Thursday, 11 February, from 15:00-16:30.

Successful candidates would be expected to follow the full International Baccalaureate Diploma programme for the final two years of the scholarship and to maintain a high level of achievement throughout the three years, in order to retain the scholarship (a minimum average of 5 on a 1-7 grading scale).

Scholarship Application Process: Important Dates

  • Application forms are available from the Upper School Office and must be submitted by Monday, 01 March, at the latest. Candidates will be expected to bring a dossier containing samples of graded work in all major subjects from their present school; this will be returned at the interviews or by mail. Recommendations from teachers in the candidate’s current school will also be required. The successful candidates will be informed in early May. All other applicants will be notified in a timely manner.
  • Applicants will be required to sit examinations in English and Mathematics on Thursday, 04 March, at 14:00. Provision will be made for applicants who do not speak English as their first language. The English paper will consist of a reading comprehension and a writing exercise and will take 90 minutes. The Mathematics paper will cover general mathematics, basic trigonometry, algebra and geometry and will also take 90 minutes.
  • Following the examinations, a shortlist of candidates will be drawn up and these candidates will be invited to meet with a panel of teachers, together with the Upper School Principal and Higher Education/Careers Counsellor, on Tuesday, 16 March.
  • For more information and to request an application form, please telephone Mrs Francine Phillips in the Upper School Office on 26 04 42 04.
